HK Web3 Evolution: Celebrating Hong Kong Web3 Policy Milestone and Initiating a New Era with Neo APAC Hackathon Finale

​​On October 27th and 28th, Neo, in collaboration with Cyberport, Web3Labs, and Invest Hong Kong, will present a two-day event titled “HK Web3 Evolution.” This event serves a dual purpose: celebrating the one-year milestone of Hong Kong’s progressive Web3 policies and hosting the grand finale of the Neo APAC Hackathon. Set to unfold at Cyberport, Hong Kong, a vibrant ecosystem for Web3 enterprises, the event promises to be a significant convergence of key players in the Web3 industry.

Riding the wave of Hong Kong’s active support and the burgeoning atmosphere of Web3 development, the event will have a keen focus on interpreting Hong Kong and Pan-Asia policies, exploring the future trajectory of the Web3 industry, facilitating partnerships and collaborations, bridging capital with technology, and providing a stage for the shortlisted teams of the Neo APAC Hackathon to compete for the grand prize.

Under the collaboration of co-organizers MetaEra, Newman Capital, and Blockchain Academy, the event successfully invited Hong Kong officials, venture capitalists, academics, and media to share insights and maximize the impact of the event. Esteemed guests of the event include:

During the first day and the first half of the second day of the two-day event, attendees can expect keynote speeches and panel discussions on significant Web3 topics. Simultaneously, the participating hackathon teams will be finalizing their projects. The afternoon of the second day will host an intense demo session, during which all 20 participating projects, 10 from the previous five City GAS Stations and 10 from online submissions, will showcase their work and compete for the final prize.

Among the 20 teams, one final winner will be selected for each of the five hackathon tracks, including DeFi and Payment, NFT and Gaming, AI, Social and DAO, Infrastructure, and General. Each winner in these tracks will receive a prize of $10,000. To encourage the participation of young talent in the Hong Kong Web3 industry, Neo will introduce a special award, the “Neo Star,” with a prize of $3,000, specifically for a team that includes at least one university student.

The champions of the five tracks will have the unique opportunity to join the recently launched “Web3.0 Global Acceleration Program”, a collaborative initiative by Neo and Web3Labs, backed by a $1 million fund provided by the Neo Foundation. This program aims to further foster Web3 innovation and development.

The Neo APAC Hackathon competition is approaching its final phase. Participating teams should ensure the submission of their projects on DoraHacks by 24:00 on October 20th, 2023, to be eligible for consideration in the project shortlisting process.
